Rooting common and cat greenbrier

Because reliable methods for propagating greenbriers are needed for wildlife-habitat purposes, we tested stem and rhizome cuttings of common and cat greenbrier and tubers of the latter species. Common greenbrier is the better species for most wildlife habitat uses. It proved fairly easy to propagate from either stem or rhizome cuttings. Similar cuttings from cat greenbrier failed, but tubers rooted well and can be collected at moderate cost. We comment on the kinds of cuttings to collect, when to collect them, nursery procedures, and relative costs.
