Novel applications of terahertz technology for the plastic industry

Terahertz (THz) technologies for industrial applications are discussed with demonstrations for black plastic polymer sorting, leaky IV-bag detection for pharmaceutical applications, and thickness measurement of plastic bottles, preforms, hose and tubes. Terahertz photoconductive antennas (THz-PCA) are at the heart of the terahertz systems used for industrial applications employed in continuous-wave and pulsed-mode operation for terahertz spectroscopy, and time-domain based measurement systems.
