Aloe cremnophila is one of 37 species of the genus recorded from Somalia. It is described in cultivation where it has been shown to be an extremely shy flowerer. Its relationships and habitat are discussed. Its closest relative is the Ethiopian Aloe jacksonii. Both species are unusual in being tetraploid with 2n = 28. Aloe cremnophila can be viewed as a more robust version of A. jacksonii but with unspotted leaves and large floral bracts.
