Operation of indirect matrix converters in different SVM switching patterns

This paper presents two switching patterns for the indirect matrix converter which models the matrix converter as two separate stages of rectifier and inverter. Both of the proposed patterns keep the number of switching at a minimum and exhibits sinusoidal input and output currents. Simulation of indirect space modulation is presented using PSIM software and the proposed patterns are simulated and compared by considering total harmonic distortion of input and output currents for different voltage gains. A simple model is proposed to represent the power circuit, including the input filter and a three-phase Y-connected RL load.
