Secret Agents in the Library: Integrating Virtual and Physical Games in a Small Academic Library

While the literature on active learning in libraries is bountiful, few articles focus on game-based learning in the library classroom. At Lycoming College, students in three classes of freshman composition were given a computer-based game in place of a lecture. The game was intended to present traditional learning objectives in a fun format and it required students to interact with physical library materials as well as the online game. Students' responses and quiz results show that this game is an effective method of instruction.
