Investigations into a wideband reflectometer for application in a microwave breast cancer detection system

Investigations into the design and calibration of a wideband reflectometer for the purpose of inclusion in a microwave imaging system for breast cancer detection is presented. The reflectometer design is based on the concept of six-port reflectometer with real-time display capabilities. In order to overcome its non-ideal performance, a one-port calibration procedure with three calibration standards is applied. The simulation results performed with Agilent ADS and Matlab show that the calibrated instrument performs reasonably well over a wide frequency band
