Current control of AC/DC thyristor converters with model reference adaptive control

The authors propose two methods for the design of current control systems of AC/DC thyristor power converters with discrete time model reference adaptive control (MRAC). By introducing an MRAC system, one can avoid degradation of control performances when environmental variations occur. The proposed methods deal with the nonlinear term contained in the model of thyristor converter control systems in two different ways. Results of computer simulations and experiments show that desired control performances can be obtained even if the plant parameters are poorly known or vary during operation.<<ETX>>
