Space design of elementary schools in Korea has undergone lots of change fitting the curriculum according to the family type getting smaller. Among many school facilities, however, public health and hygiene sections are absolutely inadequate for such change. Especially for low graders who ender the school for the first time, school is strange space while the toilet feels dirty psychically and sanitarily compared to high graders who are familiar with school life and whose physical development and growth are rapid. The improvement of toilet space is desperate for stable mentality and academic efficiency so at the time of planning space design, a guideline is absolutely needed to improve the space design of toilet where in-the-middle-of-development children"s physical and behavioral characters and taste are reflected. Therefore, this study has the purposes of developing and proposing a guide line for improvement of kids toilet with pleasant use by proceeding with a research based on the users questionnaire to find out problems in current space and situation of toilet in space design of elementary school toilets and by extracting influence factor for indoor design and space organization favored by low graders who are in the middle of development stage. Therefore, this study is to extract design factors required by low grade children to see the cases of development and application of a guideline for space design of toilet that fits their emotional, psychologic and environmental conditions.
