Hand posture recognition with the fuzzy glove

This paper presents the application of rule-based aggregation techniques for the modelling of human perception of static hand gestures (i . e . hand postures) . Acquisition of gestures is made by the Cyberglove ® device . This device provides a numerical description of the configurations of the fingers that is converted into a linguistic description corresponding to human perception . Hand postures can then be recognized by fuzzy rules from this linguistic description . This system is used in process control applications and more generally in sign recognition applications .
