In this paper, joint Underlay/interweave power control scheme is discussed to enhance secondary user’s throughput and to reduce data loss during collision in a typical spectrum sharing environment. To do so, the conventional data frame structure has been modified by incorporating two sensing slots to avoid sensing results ambiguity. It is shown that proposed scheme has a potential to improve the unlicensed user’s throughput and reduce data loss significantly. The simulated results are presented to illustrate the effectiveness of the proposed scheme. Moreover, the performance of proposed scheme is also compared with the state of art spectrum access schemes to validate the results.
