Performance of successive interference cancellation scheme considering the power control step size in DS/CDMA systems

In this paper, we investigate the effects of selecting the power control step size on the performance of successive interference cancellation schemes. System performance in terms of the outage probability and other-cell interference is examined with the power control convergence speed for different selections of the power control step sizes. The simulation results show that the larger power control step size produces more other-cell interference for the large number of concurrent users. And, the outage performance is more dependent on the power control step size for the smaller number of concurrent users and the smaller value of groupwise factors. Conclusively, the power control step size of about 0.4dB can be an optimum selection under the simulated environment in the sense of both system performance improvement and fast power control convergence.
