Design and implementation of FPGA-based 3D medical image reconstruction system

Nowadays, the reconstruction process is mainly executed on the PC platform and the reconstruction efficiency is low because of limited performance and the complexity nature of reconstruction algorithms. To solve this problem,an FPGA-based 3D reconstruction system is designed and implemented. In the system,an FSL-based architecture is set up and the speed of reconstruction algorithm is improved by running it in the new architecture. The experiment shows that the FPGA-based 3D reconstruction system solves the time-consuming problem by extensively using parallel execution, benefiting from the FIFO nature of the FSL bus and improving the traditional algorithm itself. The new system achieves real-time and efficient processing capability for medical 3D reconstruction.
