Large-scale fading in industrial environments at wireless communication frequencies

This paper discusses narrow-band propagation measurements performed in industrial environments at three frequencies, namely 900 MHz, 2400 MHz, and 5200 MHz. A measurement procedure is developed to gather fading data in factories. Common characteristics of the industrial environment affecting signal propagation are identified, and are used to classify workplace lay-outs into general propagation topographies. An industrial path loss model is developed.
