Design method for impeller of high specific speed mixed-flow pump

Based on the two-dimension theory, a computer code is made in FORTRAN language to design the high specific speed mixed-flow pump. The theory and method in calculating meridional velocity distribution by streamline iteration, drawing blade shape by point-by-point integration, thickening blade and smoothing leading edge and trailing edge of the blade by conformal mapping are introduced. The effects of several parameters on the designed impeller shape are also discussed, including hub/shroud radius ratio, velocity moment distribution function on the meridional streamline, position of blade inlet and outlet edge. This computer code can increase the efficiency of design work and the accuracy of calculating results. The data of the blade’s surface is complete which is convenient for blade manufacturing by numerical control machine. It provides a useful tool for designing the impeller of high specific speed mixed-flow pump.
