Assessing the impact of the information technology on organisational systems: a power holding company

The impacts of information technology on work have been one of the most talked issues over the recent years and it has received a lot of attention. Organisations with significant investments on information technology are concerned about the impacts of their investments on the individual and his/her performance and also how this impact will be measured. Information system executives have increasingly been required to justify technology investment in terms of technology acceptance and user productivities. In this paper, an integrated instrument is applied in order to study the impacts of information technology applications on individual work in four dimensions: task productivity, task innovation, customer satisfaction and management control. The impact of IT applications on individual work in these four dimensions represents the satisfaction of end users and if the obtained statistical results of this impact are uniform, the best conclusion will be met which reveals the homogeneity of the used resources in the system. The actual case study of this paper which is a power holding company, showed the uniform impact of IT applications in all departments with respect to the four stated dimensions. In fact, all statistical results such as regression analysis confirm the homogeneity of the system in terms of IT applications and human resources used in all departments.
