Friction and wear tests on metallic bearing materials for oil-lubricated bearings

Abstract A test method to determine the friction and wear coefficients of bearing material-steel couples under conditions of boundary lubrication is described. Test results obtained with three different test rigs in three laboratories show the validity of the proposed test method. The results are believed to contribute to the characterization of materials for specific technical applications and the test method is thus proposed for standardization procedures of the International Organization for Standardisation and Deutsches Insfitut fur Normung.
