The Impact of Drug Use on Earnings: A Life-Span Perspective

Les AA. s'efforcent d'evaluer le rapport, et notamment l'impact, entre diverses formes de consommation de drogue et le revenu a partir de donnees collectees aux Etats-Unis entre 1984 et 1990 aupres de 400 hommes adultes tous âges de 35 ans. Ils montrent que cet impact est variable selon les periode du cyle de la vie professionnelle. Il est tres important en debut de carriere professionnelle, apres 25 ans, mais il est plus faible vers l'âge de 35 ans. Cette influence negative de la consommation de drogue affecte en moyenne pendant 10 ans le niveau de revenu. Les AA. proposent un modele d'analyse des phenomenes de compensation selon les types d'emploi en ce qui concerne les processus mis en evidence au niveau de la relation etudiee. Ils preconisent l'emploi d'une approche qui prend en compte les cyles de vie des individus
