Thermal performance of building envelopes influence greatly on the building energy consumption. Thus, the government has strengthened the regulation about insulation. Especially, in the case of curtain wall panel system, a number of thermal bridges occur at joints between panels and fixing units. To ensure thermal performance, it is necessary to decrease heat loss through thermal bridges. In this study, thermal performance of an existing curtain wall panel system and its improved alternatives were experimentally evaluated in the winter. The alternatives enhance insulation of joints between panels and fixing brackets to minimize heat loss through thermal bridges. In order to evaluate thermal performance, infrared thermal images were taken, and indoor and cavity temperature were measured. As results of assessing heat loss through thermal bridges, alternatives showed high thermal performance against the existing curtain wall panel system.
