Novel Compact RFID Chipless Tag

In this communication a new RFID chipless tag is presented. The density of coding per surface of this novel tag is important and reaches 3.3bits/cm 2 . For a surface of 1:5 £ 2cm 2 , it is possible to encode 10 bits. The design presented in this paper, based on multiband coplanar strip, brings enhancement in term of miniaturization, conflgurability and cost of fabrication. Unlike previous solution only one layer of metal is necessary. So, such a tag could be easily printed with conductive inks. Both frequency domain measurement using a VNA and Time domain measurement based on radar approach are compared.
