Design of active ankle-foot orthosis based on plantar pressure sensor

This paper presents a novel design of active Ankle-foot orthosis(AFO) for hemiplegic or amyotrophic patients. The proposed device has one active DOF in ankle joint. In order to detect walking postures and states, a new pressure sensing foot is designed. The new foot is optimized compared to the last generation from the aspect of mechanical design. This paper mainly analyzes the mechanism design of the device and makes finite element simulation in Solidworks. Finally, experiment results of the pressure sensing foot are described in the paper.
