Teaching Content Redesign of Reservoir Engineering Based on the Characteristics of International Students

Education of international students majoring in subjects related to oil and gas has inevitably become a question for discussion, with the increasing national power and advancing petroleum industry internationalization of China. The teaching content of Reservoir Engineering has been redesigned, based on the characteristics of the international students, namely inexpertness in Chinese, weak knowledge base, poor self-discipline and active mind. The basic knowledge was retained, key contents highlighted and non-key contents deleted. The teaching focused on the principles and train of thoughts instead of the process of theoretical derivation. Attempts towards interactive teaching have been made to increase the fun of the course. The redesign of teaching contents has stimulated students’ interest in learning, improved the teaching performance and hence enhanced the education quality.
