Effect of irreversibilities on the performance of a thermoelectric generator

Using an externally and internally irreversible heat engine model, the maximum power and thermal efficiency at maximum power output have been determined for a thermoelectric generator. The irreversibilities can be characterized by a single parameter named the device-design parameter. The efficiency and power decrease with an increase of the device-design parameter which appears in the equations for maximum power and efficiency.
