Analysis of an on-surface transit system with correlated failures and repairs

Abstract This paper deals with the analysis of an on-surface transit system with correlated failure and repair processes. Four types of failure modes—partial failure, failure type-1, failure type-2 and failure due to accident have been considered. The joint distribution of failure and repair times is taken as bivariate exponential. The reliability characteristics of interest such as mean time to system failure, pointwise availability, expected up time of the system and expected busy period of the repairman during the interval (0, t ] are obtained by using the regenerative point technique.
