This paper presents experimental data applying the equation of motion mathematically derived KEULEGAN in his paper entitled “Spatially variable discharge over a sloping plane” [see 1 of “References” at end of paper]. The experimental data are taken from a cooperative research-project of the Public Roads Administration and the Soil Conservation Service and are based on runoff from simulated rainfall as described in a previous paper [2]. The paved surface on which the principal data reported (Series II) were obtained was a commercial slate roofing-felt impregnated with asphalt and firmly cemented to the smooth sand-asphalt surface (Series I) used for earlier tests [2]. Subsequently this surface was covered by blue-grass sod (Series m) carefully selected for uniformity) with soil of average thickness about 1-¼ inches. Thin wooden strips were nailed to the floor to retard movement of water beneath the sod.
