Laboratory-to-bulk reproducibility

The penalties for not achieving right-first-time processing in batch dyeing are severe, and success depends on the availability of efficient laboratory services to back up production. The reproducibility of laboratory colour matching is often criticised and the reasons for this are discussed. Ways of overcoming these criticisms are detailed. Computer colour matching is a major dyehouse aid in obtaining ‘quick response’, but accuracy of laboratory dyeing can often be a major problem in achieving optimum results. Modern developments to improve the accuracy of laboratory dyeing are reviewed. A number of partnerships are required if the laboratory service is to be successfully applied.
