An introduction to childhood studies (2nd ed.), edited by Mary Jane Kehily

The second edition of An Introduction to Childhood Studies offers a series of well written accounts of contemporary childhood with contributions from the editor and 11 further authors. In the introductory chapter, ‘Understanding Childhood’, Mary Jane Kehily presents an overview of the three broad themes explored in the text, Part 1 – historical approaches to childhood, Part 2 – sociocultural approaches and Part 3 – policy perspectives. New to this edition, the second chapter, ‘Childhood Studies’ by Martin Woodhead, takes an interdisciplinary approach to explore and summarise some of the key features of academic interest in children and childhood.
