Symbolic time series analysis

The known abroad applying situation and references on symbolic time series analysis (STSA) measurement are given.The question how to translate a time series into a symbolic series is briefly answered by the simplest binary partition and the concerning graphics.The frame of symbolic tree and calculation method of shannon entropy are presented depending on the binary partition,meanwhile the infection to the statistics parameters such as shannon entropy and so on,resulted by time delay,symbolic aggregate volume and symbolic layer (length of symbolic series) is discussed.The coding method and histogram function of symbolic series are described.The calculation flow chart for symbolic time series analysis is refered. 5figs.,23refs.
