Essential oil components of Chamaecrista duckeana roots

ABSTRACT Steam distillation of the roots of the Brazilian shrub Chamaecrista duckeana Leguminosae, gave an essential oil in 0.5% yield. GC/MS analysis of the oil revealed the presence of methyl chavicol (78.5%), methyl eugenol (18.0%) and eugenol (3.0%).
