Improved complex image method for a horizontal magnetic dipole in a parallel-plate waveguide

In order to derive closed-form expressions of Green's functions for the vector and scalar potentials of a horizontal magnetic dipole in a parallel-plate waveguide filled with a homogeneous dielectric, an improved complex image method based on the two-level approximation is considered in conjunction with the use of Prony's method. The results for the evaluation of the closed-form Green's functions obtained by the present method (two-level approximation) are compared with those obtained by the previous method (one-level approximation). The present method is observed to give more accurate results than the previous method over the wide frequency range as well as the whole spatial range. © 1997 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
