High-Order PT-Symmetric Telemetric Sensors with Singularity-Enhanced Sensitivity

We propose a new parity-time (PT)-symmetric telemetric sensing system to greatly enhance the sensitivity of passive inductor-capacitor (LC) wireless sensors, widely used in RFID sensors and internet-of-things (loTs). We demonstrate that by tailoring the equivalent circuit of inductively-coupled sensor and reader to satisfy the PT-symmetry (space-time reflection symmetry), the sensitivity can be the significantly improved when compared to that of conventional loop-antenna readers. This finding may have an impact on various wireless sensing and imaging systems, which employ micro/nano-machined RFID tags, wearables, and bioimplants.
