Photo-Oxidation Process - Application for Removal of Color from Textile Industry Effluent

A series of batch experiments were conducted to investigate the feasibility of hydrogen peroxide (H 2O2), a strong oxidizing agent along with lathe turnings as a heterogeneous catalyst in presence of solar irradiation for the decolorization of textile industry effluent. Operating parameters such as pH, H 2O2 concentration, and catalyst dosage affecting decolorization were investigated and optimal values were determined. A maximum decolorization of 86% was achieved. The results indicate advanced oxidation process (AOP) is one of the promising methods for textile industry effluent decolorization.
