This paper presents a new architecture for a special-purpose vision chip designed to achieve high spatial resolution, in which the higher-order autocorrelation feature and the moment operation algorithm are implemented. The development of an experimental vision chip based on the proposed architecture using a 0.35-µm CMOS process is reported. © 2004 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
