Optical properties and applications of diamond-like carbon coatings

Abstract There is considerable interest in growing pure diamond films for optical and mechanical applications. Many of the coating requirements can already be met using diamond-like carbon (DLC) films. This paper describes the use of DLC films in a range of IR optical and mechanical applications.
