CPW-coupled-fed Circular UWB Monopole Antenna

In this paper, a coupled-fed monopole antenna with co-planar-waveguide (CPW) is proposed for ultrawide band (UWB) applications. The antenna is composed of a CPW feed line terminated with a trapezium patch on one side of the substrate and a radiator with a circular segment shape on the other side. With such conflguration, there are many parameters such as the dimensions in the radiator, patch and feed line which can be used to optimize the design. Computer simulation is used to study the antenna and results show that the antenna has a large impedance bandwidth covering the frequency band from 2.7 to 11.4GHz with return loss larger than 10dB. The return loss, radiation pattern, peak gain, e-ciency of the antenna are studied using computer simulation.
