Using Personal Computers for Behavioral Coding in Real-Time: The REALTIME and TMERGE Programs

same instructor. Other researchers have found that cM has had positive results for education in general by not only increasing student achievement but by creating a positive attitude accompanied by increased motivation and class attendance (Dalgaard, Lewis, & Boyer, 1984, pp. 30914). Our preliminary results for principles of economics reinforce these conclusions. From the &dquo;instructional perspective&dquo; (Sumansky 1984, pp. 480-86), the pedagogy developed has value. Technological overkill has been avoided, and efficient use of time for both the instructor and student has been achieved. It is the hope of the authors that the current research will be a first step in undertaking a more extensive experiment to determine the educational benefits of computers for teaching principles of economics. However, based upon these responses it would seem that sections of principles of economics using the computer as an integral part of the course are here to stay and will be expanded at Chico State.
