Optimization of reactive power for active distribution network with power electronic transformer

Regarding to reactive power regulation in an active distribution network, PET (power electronic transformer) is considered as a new reactive power control device. Based on understanding of DRs, energy storage devices and PET, we built an optimization model of reactive power for an ADN (Active distribution network) with PET, and adopted PSO (particle swarm optimization) to solve the optimal problem. The simulation results show that power loss in ADN with PET is less than that with OLTC (On-load Tap Changer) transformer, because PET is of better performances in reactive power regulation. At last, we used an example to verify the feasibility and effectiveness of the constructed model.
