T SOFTWARE AGENTS IN A COLLABORATIVE LEARNING ENVIRONMENT

Two projects at Bergen University College are briefly described. A new project using agents is introduced as an on-going project. The paper describes the communication language, KQML, that is able to support interactions between agents. Two different platforms of implementation of such a system are discussed; the KQML- CORBA platform and the JATLite platform. The last platform is a Java template developed at Stanford University to facilitate the construction of agents. The JATlite platform is selected for the development of an agent-based collaborative educational system in the domain of Natural Language Processing (NLP). Some aspects of this platform related to the implementation of the system are discussed.
