An analaytical model for single-diode equivalent circuit parameter extraction of PV Modules/Cells

This study proposes an analytical model for determining single-diode circuit parameters for PV modules. In the study, firstly, a mathematical relation is established using the curve fitting method between the photon current (Ipv) and short-circuit current (Isc) for several PV modules available in the literature. Then, an analytical model consisting of a set of equations with three unknowns (Rp, Rs and a) is developed using this developed relation between the currents. Analysis showed that the parameters extracted by using proposed model and resulting I-V and P-V curves largely overlap with the real data. Therefore, Root Mean Square Error (RMSE) and Coefficient of Determination (R2) values between calculated and real data are found to be negligible. In addition, compared to other methods, it can be stated that the model has advantages such as ease of use in parameter estimation, less need for experimental data, and ability to determine all the parameters.
