Tumor production in the glandular stomach and alimentary tract of the rat by N-methyl-N'-nitro-N-nitrosoguanidine.

Oral administration of N -methyl- N′ -nitro- N -nitrosoguanidine to rats at levels of 33 to 167 µg/ml in the drinking water resulted in a high percentage of adenomas and adenocarcinomas of the glandular stomach. Additionally, rats that were examined after 1 year of experiment showed a variety of other tumors in the duodenum, the jejunum, the liver, and the mesentery. N -Methyl- N′ -nitro- N -nitrosoguanidine is a tool for facile production of adenocarcinoma in the glandular stomach of rats.
