Surgical electric stapling device

PURPOSE: To provide a surgical stapling device which can achieve sufficient hemostasis on any tissue whether it is thick or irregular or brittle. CONSTITUTION: The surgical stapling device 10 using heat energy, preferably bipolar radio frequency energy, in order to cauterize and/or weld tissue, compresses the tissue located between the first pole of a bipolar energy source located on a first interface 33 and the second pole of the bipolar energy source located on a second interface 34. A staple and the heat energy are applied to the tissue compressed. Preferably, an incision means 11 is incorporated into the device 10. COPYRIGHT: (C)1995,JPO
