PDA-and Agent-based Execution of Workflow Tasks

With the rise of global networkslike the Internetthe importanceofworkflowenvironmentsisgrowing. Especially the combinationwith software agentsallows to counter deficienciesof traditional client/serverbasedworkflow systems. In this setting new trendsin hardand softwaresuch personaldigital assistants(PDAs)andwireless technologiescausea changein theexecutionof workflow tasks. Therefore, this paperintroducesthe AWA/PDA prototypewhich combinesa PDA with an agent-basedworkflowsystem.Theprosandconsof PDA-basedtaskexecution arediscussedin thissetting, andthetechnicaldetails of theprototypearepresented.
