The achieving method for rapid prompt of the EPG information during channel change practically comprises the following steps of a, a third party EPG manufacture updates EPG data and uploads to a FTP (File Transfer Protocol) server in real time; b, a head detects whether EPG information is updated or not in real time, the EPG information is inserted to a database and an updated EPG file in the FTP server is deleted meanwhile if yes; c, the head generates into a sqlite database db file which contains the EPG information; d, the head packages the sqlite database db file to generate into a TS file through an OC protocol and enables the TS file to be sequentially played through preset frequency points; e, the set top box receives the sqlite database db file by locking the preset frequency points when starts up and stores under a set category; f, the set top box backstage monitors a channel change event, responses to the channel change event when a user changes channels, rapidly feeds back the EPG information through inquiry of the database and displays the EPG information. The achieving method for rapid prompt of EPG information during channel change improves the user experience effect and reduces the user waiting time.
