Pesticide drift from aerial and ground applications.

Experiments were performed to compare pesticide drift from various methods of application, weather conditions, and locations. The methods of applications involved a high clearance ground sprayer, a mist blower, and aerial application by use of an airplane. The residue was collected by glass plates, alfalfa samples and Andersen Air Samplers. Results revealed that drift residues from aerial applications 1/4 to 1/2 mile downwind can be reduced by as much as 80% when changing to high clearance sprayer application. The pesticide drift from the mist blower was only slightly greater than the aerial applications.
