Tradeoffs in the Use of Wide-Area Telephone Service (WATS)

This paper describes the use of a simple simulation model to evaluate policies for WA TS usage in an organization that has a programmable telephone exchange or PBX. The simulation results indicate that for a small increase in cost, both waiting time and the number of persons who wait can be decreased substantially in a marginal case.
