Modelling and analysis of PMBLDC motor based three wheeler EV for closed loop optimum operation

In this paper, a complete simulation model of electric vehicle (EV) is developed by integrating all the subsystems of a PMBLDC motor driven three wheeler EV with basic dynamics of every component involved. This kind of analysis is essential for understanding the correlation between the vehicle control dynamics and the powertrain components. The performance of the entire EV system is evaluated for typical Indian road conditions. The presented simple control achieves the required torque command to drive the vehicle smoothly as per Indian driving cycle. It brings out various inferences for optimum operation of the EV for its prolonged life with respect to motor loading and its control, and battery transient performances as per the drive cycle.
