Language understanding implies understanding of subject, verb, and object. The authors describe this as establishing the correct 'assembly links' between pairs of words in the input sentence. Some experiments are reported in which a network with memory units learn to understand sentences by incorporating during learning various constraints which are activated by word order, morphology, and prepositional marking of nouns.<<ETX>>
