Architecture and mechanisms of a Web-based video data management system

This paper presents the architecture of an experimental Web-based video database management system, which can accommodate full range of activities conducted by various types of users. Besides supporting the basic concurrency control for the video editing among different users, our system provides various kind of profiles containing knowledge information and activity models which are useful for annotating abstracted information into the video data and for processing video queries. We also describe the user interface facilities from the perspective of sample user interactions. This system is being built based on our earlier work of developing a fully-fledged video database management system using extended object-oriented concepts and techniques.
