Method and measurement set up for the evaluation of the performance of UPS in presence of network outages

Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) are systems capable of providing power supply at the occurrence of voltage dips, swells or power interruptions. In the present paper authors present a new limit curve for assessing the response time of the UPS at the occurrence of high or short impedance service interruption of the UPS feeder. The response time from passing from external power supply to battery operation mode must fulfill requirements reported in Standards or in Councils specifications. The response time is one of the most important features of a UPS. Customers are requiring response times more and more short. This hot topic has lead authors to investigate on a new limit curve for the response time of UPS more severe than conventional ones. Experimental results confirm that actual practicability of such a cure for comparison purposes during tenders.
