URSULA: Robotic Demining System

Our idea of developing a demining robot grew up seeded on the dream of trying to help Colombia find solutions to the landmines problem, which is already faced by only manual methods. At this step, our humanitarian demining system is thought to have two main components: a "Control Station" and a robot named URSULA.. The "Control Station" allows an operator to handle the data supplied by the robot. The robot was designed based on a global architecture for autonomous navigation, and it is encharged of exploring the minefield and detecting mines from dedicated sensors: metal detectors or Far Infra Red cameras. The following paper describes the current results of this project.
