The Index and Application of Form Design for Evaluating Movable Project in Technological Creative Contest

This study employed industrial and mechanical design to develop the evaluation index to review the form design in a Wooden Robot contest for K4-6 and K7-8 students who use science knowledge to make technological project and compete in speed and tug-of–war. Based on the literature review and focus group discussion, the index of form design evaluation for this particular technological creative contest includes five aspects: aesthetics, eco- material usage, simulation, performance and additional devices. There are two sub-indices in each aspect to be considered as the identification of form characteristics. Based on a technological design contest, 33 objects were selected as the best form design by 10 reviewers rated in 5 scales. After statistical analysis, the result indicates that there is a positive correlation in five form design aspects in general. In particular, aesthetics, simulation and performance have the highest correlation. Thus, this study can be referred to those form design in movable objects to attract others‘ interests.
